Welcome to Luverne United Methodist Church
We believe four ideals help us remain consistent with the United Methodist Church’s stated mission “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.“
LOVE – UNITE – MOTIVATE - CELEBRATE
LOVE CHRIST - We love because He first loved us. God so loved us that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, that through faith in Him we might have life abundant and eternal.
UNITE PEOPLE WITH CHRIST – Being connected with Christ means connecting to others. The genuine Christian community is about caring, growing and sharing a whole new approach to life – as God intended. Jesus sets the agenda. WE become His students, His followers, His companions and His partners in God’s redemptive plan for the world and as a result, as we grow in God’s grace, we help grow His Kingdom.
MOTIVATE TO SERVE – Connecting with Christ and each other leads us into the world to make a difference for the better. We do this by imitating Christ; the self-giving, serving ONE who is our inspiration. Christ’s coming into the world becomes our going into the world.
CELEBRATE THE GOSPEL – Jesus Christ embodies the grace of GOD as God’s living presence among us. Through Christ’s self-giving, we connect in a way that gives us new life now and the future eternal. THAT’S THE GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL! That is why we worship!
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen. (*universal)
